ACCCIM Malaysia’s Business and Economic Conditions Survey Report (M-BECS) For 2H 2018 and 1H 2019F

1. Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to ACCCIM’s Press Briefing on Malaysia’s Business and Economic Conditions Survey (M-BECS) report, covering 2H 2018 and 1H 2019F.

2. I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak with you today about the survey findings based on an overall response rate of 66.3% receiving 1,027 returns out of 1,550 questionnaires, exceeding our target of 1,000 respondents.

3. This survey, which was launched since 1992 is renamed as Malaysia’s Business and Economic Conditions Survey (M-BECS) is an important source of information that gives us direct insights and use in our assessment of current and future economic and business conditions as well as an input for the preparation of ACCCIM’s engagements and consultations with the Government and relevant agencies on issues and problems confronting business community.

1. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to ACCCIM’s media conference for the Survey Report on the Economic Situation of Malaysia for the second half of 2017.
 
2 Twice a year, the ACCCIM Commerce Committee conducts a survey on the economic situation of Malaysia in order to obtain the business community’s views on the nation’s economic situation and government policies. This will enable relevant parties to better understand the situation on the ground and the needs of the business community, thereby enhancing their efficiency and productivity, lowering the business community’s cost of doing business, and ultimately creating a more people- and business-friendly environment.
 
3 The current survey shows that the business sector is increasingly optimistic, with 55% of respondents claiming that they were ‘optimistic’ or ‘somewhat optimistic’ about the Malaysian economy in 2018. The general outlook for the coming years is also encouraging, with this percentage increasing to 63% and 71% for 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to ACCCIM’s media conference for the Survey Report on the Economic Situation of Malaysia for the first half of 2017.
 
Twice a year, the ACCCIM Commerce Committee conducts a survey on the economic situation of Malaysia in order to obtain the business community’s views. The findings of the survey will form the basis of ACCCIM’s recommendations and proposals to the relevant ministries and agencies.
 
By closely working with the government to address a wide range of business issues, we hope that the relevant ministries and agencies would have a clearer understanding of business needs, thereby helping the business sector lower their cost of doing business.
